Each of these satellites carries a number of transponders. These transponders each carry a signal back to the Earth.  

Since it makes use of wireless technology, TV channels/programs are sent to the subscriber's television direct from the satellite, eliminating the need for cables and any cable infrastructure.

The DTH system can also provide many value-added services such as the Internet, e-mail, data casting, e-commerce, and interactive multimedia.

In DTH telecast, the signals are transmitted in Ku band (10.7 GHz to 18 GHz) and are received by the subscribers through a small dish antenna (about 45cm in dia.) and a set-top box (or an integrated receiver decoder).

DTH stands for Direct-To-Home television. It refers to a digital satellite service that provides television services direct to subscribers anywhere in the country. 

Geostationary satellites orbit the earth in a region of space known as the Clarke Belt, which is approximately 22,300 miles above the equator.
